Kangpokpi, March 31 2016: Even as Konthoujam Mamang Kabui village women have accused escort personnel of Konthoujam AC MLA K Sarat of making derogatory remarks against them, MLA K Sarat has denied the accusation against his escort personnel.

Taking strong exception to the alleged foul and unre- strained comments against women of Konthoujam Mamang Kabui village by escort personnel of Konthoujam AC MLA K Sarat a few days back, the Konthoujam Mamang Tribal Women Society has today said that such unrestrained comments by the personnel amount to a challenge to the whole Kabui community.

Speaking to reporters to- day at Manipur Press Club, secretary of Konthoujam Mamang Tribal Women Soci- ety Sindinliu Kamei said the escort personnel of MLA K Sarat were making unwar- ranted remarks against the tribal women when they were returning home in the night of March 26 around 9.30 after attending a traditional rite.

When the local women folk approached the MLA the next morning to thrash out the matter personally, the MLA was not at his residence, she said.

Besides, she said that the MLA's wife action of turning her rage at the womenfolk was not justifiable.

Sindinliu Kamei further urged the authority concerned to take fitting action against the personnel involved in making the alleged derogatory remarks.

She further urged all concerned CSOs of the State to look into the matter so that justice is delivered.

She added that the MLA is not available for talks till now since the incident happened.

Meanwhile, addressing media persons at his Konthoujam Lairembi Leikai's residence today, MLA K Sarat said that there was no incident of his escort personnel making unre- strained or derogatory remarks against women of Konthoujam Mamang Kabui womenfolk.

He said that he, along with his escort party, was returning home after attending public meetings at different places when they came across womenfolk attired in traditional dresses in the night of March 26.He said that there was no incident of his escort personnel making unwarranted comments against the womenfolk.

He said that there is a personnel among his escort party who is nicknamed 'Mukthrubi.' Denying the involvement of his escort personnel in any partisan action or making any derogatory remarks against any community, MLA K Sarat said the allegation was nothing but a ploy to tarnish his image with political motive.
