Imphal, February 04 2010: State Tourism Minister, TN Haokip today flag off an 18 member team Diamond Palace Tourism, Manipur Branch who will go to Bangkok with the objective of building close tie with neighbouring countries of South East Asia.

Speaking at the flag off function held this afternoon, Tourism minister lauded India's Look East Policy observing that even though Manipur is within the political map of India, facial structure, habit and customs are very close to South East Asian countries like Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia etc.

As all people in this region belong to mongoloid group, these countries take a liking Manipur instantly, the minister said, observing, knowing this, in the Manipur University also study centre for languages of this region is opened.

The coordinator of the team Khoirom Loyalakpa said that the proposed visit aimed at bringing closer tie among the mongoloid people settled in the region.
