Imphal, February 16 2015: People for Animal (PFA), Manipur has rescued and relocated some animals during the last few days.

According to a statement issued by PFA Manipur, Solomon Ronam, Assistant Commandant, 69 Bn CRPF (PWD complex, Imphal) rescued five Juvenile Eastern grass owls from an ignorant hunter by buying them at Rs 2000.Ronam, who is from Purul village, Senapati, found the owls while he was on leave.

Ronam and his wife fed the young birds with beef and chicken for the last 15 days till he brought them down at Imphal and handed them over to PFA after the completion of his leave on Saturday.

PFA fears that most of the young birds will not survive as they are sick with flu.

But the effort extended by Ronam and his wife is worthy of appreciation, it said.

In another incident, a small boy from Laipham Khunou, Kongrailakpam Siddanth (3) saved a Peregrine falcon.

The boy found it sticking on a fence with a glue.

The bird might have escaped from a gum trap.

It might have taken rest on the fence leading the gum smearing on its body and sticking to the fence again.

His father came to know of his little son's secret when his son demanded an extra puri during breakfast.

The bird was relocated by PFA after cleaning the gum.

In another incident, one Saikhom Khomei and another Langpoklakpam Ibotombi of Yairipok Khoirom Makha handed over an injured Hog deer to PFA.

The duo caught it when the deer entered Khomei's house.

The injured deer succumbed to its injuries on the way to a dispensary.

The deer might have been chased by hunters or other animals letting it to wander towards the village with multiple injuries.

Post mortem report from State Zoological Garden said that the cause of the death was 'Capture Myopathy' or commonly 'Shock disease'.

Coagulated blood was found inside its heart, it said.

In an unrelated incident, one Kangabam Kiran of Sagolband Kangabam Leikai handed over an injured Steve Eagle to PFA.

The bird had injuries on its right wing probably from catapult or gun shot.

Kiran said that he saved it from a fish trader coming from Bishnupur.

Meanwhile, one Angom Boboi of Langthabal Phura Makhong handed over a Moor hen to the PFA.

In yet another incident, Waikhom Gopal of Wabagai Mayai Leikai handed over a young Leopard Cat.

He found it intruding his potato farm.

The cat was relocated by PFA after giving medical aid.

Two sick Barn owls were handed over by one Romi Thangjam of Singjamei and another by Akoijam Kesho of Thoubal DC complex, it added.
