In connection with the ensuing 11th Assembly election, People's Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) organised a public meeting at Lilashing Khongnangkhong community hall at Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai here today.
PRJA was launched by Irom Chanu Sharmila who fasted for 16 years to demand repeal of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), 1958 from the State.
Addressing the gathering, co-convener of the newly floated political party, Mayengbam James said that voters between the age of 30-35 in Thangmeiband Constituency account for 40 percent.
He further said that the role of young voters in building and shaping a Nation is of paramount importance.
Asserting that time has come for the candidates concerned to stop wooing voters with money at the time of election, James appealed to the voters to choose the right and competent candidates in the forthcoming election for the sake of development of the State.
Development and change will come only when people elect honest and able candidates.
It is high time for the people to exercise their franchise knowing the value of their vote, he stated.
He maintained that PRJA was formed to further consolidate regional political parties in the State.
Assuring that the party is firmly committed to empowering youth of the State, he claimed that the party will become one of the trusted and reliable political parties in the State after a few years.
Candidates of the party will contest the ensuing election without wooing voters with money power.
If any of the candidates are found bribing voters then he/she will be expelled from the party, he declared.
Mention may be made that Irendro Leichombam will contest the election in Thangmeiband Constituency on PRJA ticket.
