Locals condemn assault on MO

People of Longmai (Noney) Bazar, staff of Longmai PHC and Anganwadi workers today staged a protest demonstration condemning the alleged assault on Dr Adim Gangmei, MO of Longmai PHC by counter economic blockade supporters at Khumbong yesterday.
Dr Adim Gangmei, who was on the way to Noney, was allegedly beaten up at Khumbong by the supporters of counter economic blockade.
They also allegedly snatched his cell phone and other belongings.
Protesters said that doctors are life savers who render services to all the people irrespective of religion or communities.
Harassing and beating up a doctor are highly condemnable.
Apart from compensating Dr Adim Gangmei, the State Government should look into the matter and take up befitting against the involved miscreants.
They also said that the Home Department has failed to protect the people during such crisis.
The State Government should not have a partial attitude while safeguarding the people of the State.
Dr Ajin Maringmei, District Malaria Officer, Tamenglong, also took part in the sit-in protest.
He said that assaulting a doctor should be condemned by all.
He also urged the people not to repeat such act in future.
In the meantime, All Zeliangrong Medicos' Union, Imphal has also condemned the assault of Dr Adim Gangmei.
In a statement, the union said that such action should not be repeated.
