Imphal, June 27 2011: Even as the Congress indulged in an overdose of self congratulations during a one day political conference at Mapal Kangjeibung, a number of motorists on the Kanglapat road were forced to negotiate their way between the buses parked on the eastern side of NH-39, bang opposite to M Sector and Treasury office, and the large number of people ferried from across the State to attend the political do today.

The buses were given the "permit card" to park on the eastern side of the road on the merit of ferrying participants to the Congress do at Mapal Kangjeibung ! .

Buses, cars, Tata Magic, in fact all types of vehicles carrying the participants jammed the road, leaving the motorists high and dry.

On the other hand the celebratory mood of the Congress was high on visibility at Mapal Kangjeibung with permanent member of Congress Working Committee Luizinho Falerio, who is in charge of Manipur, giving a pat on Chief Minister O Ibobi and stating that with the support of the people, the Congress led SPF Government has been able to restore peace and take forward the State on the path of development.

Falerio participated in the day-long political conference organised by Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) under the theme of 'The Congress view on present situation' at Mapal Kangjeibung here today as chief guest.

He also released a booklet highlighting the developmental activities of the ruling Congress led Government in the State at the occasion.

Addressing the gathering of Congress workers and sympathisers who turned up to attend the conference in spite of inclement weather, Falerio congratulated Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh for leading a stable Government and taking the State forward on the path of development.

All these have been possible because of the faith and support of the people on the Congress Government.

Khuga Dam and Ima Market have been constructed and dedicated to the people.

Foundation stone for construction of Indira Gandhi National Tribal University has been laid and High Court buildings and Capital Project are almost completed, Falerio said, while lauding over the developmental works taking place in Manipur.

Taking up many other development programmes in the State in the pipeline and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi are in full support of development in Manipur, Falerio added.

He went on to say that Congress is one of the oldest and largest political party in the world and the UPA Government led by Congress at the Centre has been able to ensure various benefits due to every citizen in a welfare Nation through implementation of 15 flagship programmes.

Right to Information, Right to Education Act and Right to Food Security Act have been implemented and steps have been able to take up against corruption and black money, Falerio said, adding that the UPA Government has been able to bring about peace process and properties because of the full support backed by the people.

Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh said that his Government would never remain mute spectator and tolerate anyone trying to disturb the hard earned peace just because they have the right to say and express anything in a democratic country.

Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and AICC president Sonia Gandhi understand the issues of Manipur.

So, they have always supported when approach for assistance over reasonable issues.

The Prime Minister has also conveyed that there would be no shortage of fund in connection with the efforts being made for completion of the developmental projects and schemes being taken up in Manipur ahead of the next Assembly election.

Moreover, the Prime Minister has given his approval to the request for handing over the task of developing the NH 53 currently being undertaken by BRO to a large company, the Chief Minister added.

Chief Minister O Ibobi observed that his Government or his Congress party would never like to take the credit for the developmental activities in the State.

What is more important is reaching out the benefit to the people.

To ushering in lasting peace and more developmental works in Manipur, the Chief Minister also appealed to the people for continued support and ensuring Congress party to get absolute majority in the upcoming General elections so as to put install a stable Government of the Congress alone.

MPCC president Gaikhangam asserted that other political parties like BJP, which are jealous of the developmental works taken by the Congress led Government in the State have been trying to mislead the people through false propaganda.

So, the conference has been organised to facilitate public understanding of the works being taken by the Govt.Lok Sabha MPs Dr T Meinya and Thango Baite also among others who addressed the conference attended by Speaker of Manipur State Legislative Assembly I Hemochandra, SPF Ministers, MLAs, leaders of the frontal organisations and cells of the Congress party, DCC members and chief functionaries of Zilla Parishads.
