On account of the economic blockade imposed by the Sadar Hills Districthood Demand Committee (SHDDC) and the counter blockade imposed by the United Naga Council (UNC), petroleum products are no longer available in Ukhrul, Senapati and Tamenglong districts.
Rice stock at Senapati CAF &PD godown has also depleted to nil.
An official source informed that no petroleum products could be transported to Senapati district because of the twin economic blockades one from August 1 and the other from August 21 .
As such, no petroleum products are available in the district.
Along with informing the matter to the State Government, Senapati district administration has appealed to the Government to make arrangements for transporting petroleum products from Dimapur to Senapati directly.
Taking due note of this problem, the State Government has asked the IOC to allow direct transportation of petroleum products from Dimapur to the district.
The State Government has also appealed to the Petroleum Ministry to instruct the IOC to allow transportation of fuel to Senapati district directly.
Senapati district administration further wrote to the State Government informing that rice and sugar stocks at Senapati CAF& PD godown have depleted to nil.
Excepting little quantity of fuel available in black markets, no petroleum products are available in Tamenglong district too.
The stock of rice available in Tamenglong district has also depleted to a very low level.
Tamenglong district administration is preparing to submit a report about the matter to the State Government.
The authorities are unable to send FCI rice to Tamenglong district due to the ongoing blockades.
Ukhrul district was also facing acute shortage of fuel a few days back but the situation has improved a bit since then.
