Imphal, May 23 2015 :
Two persons - one Church leader and two construction labourers were killed in an alleged "encounter" on Saturday morning at B Gamon village in Ukhrul district.
Sources said that a combined force of para-troopers and Assam Rifles raided B Gamon village early on Saturday morning reportedly on receipt of information that some KNF (N) cadres were bivouacking there.
Villagers heard reports of gun shots and sound of a bomb blast.
Later, a police team also rushed to the spot.
The dead Church leader was identified as Paokholet Khongsai, a father of five sons and a daughter.
Villagers said that he was an innocent and God fearing person having no nexus with any armed groups.
The villagers also reiterated that there was no armed cadres of any outfit in and around the village located about 15 km away from Nongpok Keithelmanbi.

The other two killed were that of Meitei labourers engaged in the renovation works of the Church.
The exact identities of the two labourers were yet to be established till the filing of this report.
Women volunteers came out of their houses and blocked the road in an attempt to prevent the police from taking away the bodies of those who were killed in the incident.
However, it is believed that they had taken a detour.
Meanwhile, another Meitei student from Wangoo was reported to have drowned in a pond located inside the school premises in Cachar, Assam.
Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has taken note of the mysterious death of Sanasam Diyabi (16), son of Jiten of Wangoo Sabal Leikai.
It is said that the son who was a student of Class 10 had sent an SMS to the father asking him to call up the school authority.
But the father could not receive the same in time due to low battery.
On May 22, the father got an SMS informing him that his son was drowned while taking bath in the pond that morning.
Without even informing the father, a post-mortem was conducted the same day.
DESAM said that a second post-mortem will be conducted in Imphal.
DESAM has urged the Manipur Government to get in touch with the Assam counterpart to order a probe into the incident.
