A public meeting held today at Canchipur College has resolved to launch indefinite State-wide bandh and highway blockade from April 2 in case the State Govt does not withdraw its decision to construct the proposed National Institute of Technology in the agricultural fields of Kyamgei by this time.
The meeting held under the aegis of the JAC Against the Construction of NIT at Kyamgei Loukon also decided to set up a State level committee of 16 members to save the agricultural fields of Kyamgei.
It also agreed to rope in leaders of various civil organisations in the committee.
Meanwhile, the North Imphal United Clubs' and Meira Paibi Organisations (NIUCAMO) has pledged moral & physical support to all the initiatives that may be taken by the JAC to save the agricultural land.
Copies of memorandum would be submitted to the Union Minister of Agriculture and the CM in this regard.
