In appreciation of his hard work and achievement, Manipur People's Party (MPP) has felicitated Takhellambam Micheal who secured the third position in just declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Examination, 2007.A cash reward of Rs 8000 and other gifts like books, stationery items, garments, etc were presented to him during a simple function held at the party office here this afternoon.
Micheal scored a total aggregate mark of 600 with letter marks in six subjects to secure the third position in the examination.
He is a student of Ch Thambou High School, Thoubal.
Addressing the function, party president Dr Chandramani said it is with sheer hard work that Micheal, inspite of being born in a poor family and other difficulties , managed to emerge as the third topper.
MPP has singled out Micheal for the honour as there is a big difference between him and other toppers.
Everyone should encourage him and extend every possible assistance for the realisation of his ambition which is to become a scientist, he exhorted.
Speaking during the function, Micheal said that although he was born in a poor family, it is with the support of his parents and other family members that he could be in the merit list.
'Even if I wanted to go for tuition my parents could not afford tuition fee.
I had to really hard work so that I don't lag behind my friends', he said, adding that he would like to become a scientist in life.
Micheal's father who also spoke at the occasion recalled that he could not believe that his son came in third position when the result of the examination was announced as he could not afford to send him for tuition like other students.
