A joint meeting of Raengzaeng (Ngariyan) Youth Club, Ngariyan Women Society and Village Authority held at the residence of village chief L Longgachung resolved to impose a 24 hour bandh on the Old Cachar Road (Tongjei Maril) from September 22 midnight to protest the KYKL attack on personnel of 5/8 Gorkha Rifles on September 19 evening.
The meeting while strongly condemning the attack also appealed to UG groups not to repeat such acts near the village, said a press release issued by the Club.
A separate release of the Club strongly condemning underground outfit behind the September 19 attack on the security force expressed gratitude to the GR officials and personnel for exercising restraint despite the casualties suffered.
Contending that the attack was carried out within the Raengzaeng village parameter the Club described the militant�s conduct not merely an attack on Indian army but is akin to putting the village at the mercy of the security force.
The attack has disturbed the tranquil atmosphere of the village and crippled day to day earning, said the Club while appealing to the group concerned against committing such act near the village in future.
