Reiterating that it is ready to go ahead with the 48 hour general strike in Tamenglong against the Government's apathy towards the district, the Zeliangrong Students' Union has warned all the associations of taxi services to abide by the general strike which is scheduled to start from 6 pm of May 18.In a statement, the vice-chairman and convenor, Tamei area of the student body, L Lungphakbou said that their demands include early completion of the Loktak Down Stream Hydro Power Project and not to interfere in the work to be taken up by the NHPC, to immediately start work over the installation of 33/11 KV power sub-stations at Tamei Hqs which has been stalled for a long time and to warn the contractor, to resume the construction of the two Barak bridges in between Tamenglong and Namtiram and Katang and Dikiuram and to hand over the contract work to another contractor, to clarify the amount released for the construction of the road under ACA stretching from New Kaiphundai to Tousem Phaklong and to punish the guilty.
The student also demanded that the work be handed over to the BRTF.
Other demands include immediate shifting of Tousem Forest Office/Division from Jiribam to Tamenglong, immediate completion of the construction of police station at Tamei Hqs and completion of the ongoing 133 KV power station at Rengpang.
