The State Government has agreed to order a Magisterial Inquiry into the circumstances leading to the death of Sapam Brojen (27) s/o S Gandhar of Malom Tuliyaima, Taorem Boba (25) s/o T Rajen of Changanggei Ucheckon and Thangkhenmung (30) s/o VK Hangzo of Paite Veng, at about 9.30 am of April 6 at Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi Leikai in police firing.
The agreement was reached during meetings between representatives of the JAC and the State Government represented by Chief Minister in-charge Th Debendra and TD and IFC Minister Phungzathang Tonsing on April 7 and 8.Moreover, MLAs RK Anand, S Kunjeswor (Keba), the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary, the DGP and the IGP (LOI) were also present at the meeting during which an MoU was also signed.
As per the MoU, the State Government agreed to initiate action against the police personnel involved based on the report of the Magisterial Inquiry.
Based on the inquiry report, the State Government will pay ex-gratia to the bereaved families besides transferring the police personnel involved in the incident by April 9.Consequent upon signing the MoU, the JAC agreed to take the corpses of the deceased for performing last rites by the families concerned.
Children return : A group of children from different schools of Churachandpur sent to Kolkatta under Ops Sadhbawana by 27 Sector AR under the aegis of Red Shield Division returned today, said PIB (DW) in a statement.
